Native American scrapbooks, 1818-1889.

Four scrapbooks by an unknown compiler containing newspaper clippings and photographs concerning Native Americans covering the years 1818-1889. In addition to numerous clippings and engraved illustrations from Harper's Weekly and other national periodicals, albums I and II include original photographs of Big Bear, Captain Jack, Israel Folsom, Manulito, Ascension Rios, Shunra-La-Lo-Ka, and other unidentified individuals, as well as various tribal groups. Also depicted is the 1872 Crow delegation to Washington, D.C., captives at Camp Brown, Wyoming, and scenes in images taken by the Hayden Expedition. In addition there are a few autographs including one of Chief Ouray.
